The Depot Theatre is committed to providing professional theatre productions and outreach services to the Adirondack region and to creating a vibrant, nurturing artistic home for diverse theatre artists in which they can further develop their craft. This strong commitment to the individual artist is the hallmark of The Depot Theatre experience. Emphasis is placed on gathering artists who enhance the professional quality of Depot Theatre productions, and whose shared knowledge, sense of humor and respect - for the playwright, fellow artists and audience - enriches all. The Depot Theatre is further committed to the preservation of its 19th century building so that it remains part of the historic and cultural landscape of our region.

Depot Theatre embarks on exciting 2012 journey

WESTPORT-ON-LAKE-CHAMPLAIN, N.Y. – The New Year marks a thrilling new journey for The Depot Theatre. The Adirondacks' professional theatre company will celebrate its 33rd year in operation with a new managing director, a new volunteer guild and four blockbuster shows for the 2012 season.

The Depot has launched a national search to replace outgoing managing director Chris Casquilho who is moving to Ogden, Utah with his family to work for Weber State University.

"We’ll miss Chris,” said George Davis, president of the Board. “His energy and levity added a warm, welcoming dimension to the Depot. Chris' pre-show banter is legendary!"

The Board of Trustees is approaching this leadership transition as an opportunity to realign and focus the Managing Director’s responsibilities according The Depot’s long range plan. In addition to professional theater operations, marketing and public relations, the ideal candidate will offer fundraising and development expertise.

“We’re looking for an individual who can help grow the operating budget in order to nurture our commitment to exploring new work alongside the canon of American Theatre,” explained Artistic Director Shami McCormick. Her involvement spans the history of The Depot which began operating in 1979, became a professional Actors’ Equity Association company in 1988, and joined the Theatre Communication Group in 2006. The annual operating budget recently ranges between $300,000 and $350,000, but McCormick is confident that there is room and demand for growth ... [Contintue]
