Before I get started on this week's blog, let me give a great big THANK YOU to everyone who came out to our kick-off Bingo event (& a thank you to our awesome Board who put it all together!). It was a lot of fun and people left with great cash payouts and fabulous prizes. Roothie Farnsworth won the day as our "Bingo Caller Extroidinaire." Be sure to check out the great photos on our Facebook page and don't miss the next Bingo on Saturday June 16.
Last week, Shami & I got to attend the Career Fair at Westport Central School. This was my first time visiting the school and I was amazed at how much these kids were up to. The Freshman Class selling Dogwood Bakery Pizzas (which, by the way, beats NYC pizza by a mile), a fencing club, a group of students performing small scenes teaching responsibility to younger students. We met one young lady who read us a short story she's written for class, and I was seriously blown away by her smarts and creativity. This week I get to stop by the Business Class for mock interviews with the students. I cannot wait to meet more of these very important members of Westport and can only hope that they share their energy and enthusiasm with the Depot Theatre.
Speaking of sharing energy and enthusiasm - don't forget to join us for our Volunteer Fair on Saturday, June 2 at the Depot Theatre. Stop by anytime between 11am & 1pm to meet and mingle with staff and other volunteers, plus get Early-Bird Sign-Ups for Volunteer Opportunities this summer. We'll also tell you about the perks of being a member of the Depot Volunteer Corps. Perk #1: free coffee and breakfast-goodie-deliciousness provided at the Volunteer Fair!
Another way to help the Depot Theatre is by becoming a Depot Theatre Sponsor. There are sponsorships available in all price ranges (there's even one that won't cost you a penny!) and can be purchased by organizations or individuals. Please contact us in the office if you have any questions or interest.
Just a couple reminders:
Soup & A Play Reading on Sunday, May 20. Soup starts at 6pm and the reading of TECH SUPPORT by Debra Whitfield begins at 6:30pm. This one sounds like a lot of fun. Looking forward to it!
Rummage Sale over Memorial Day Weekend at 6309 S Maiin Street (Rt 22)! We'll be collecting items the weekend prior at the new location.
See you at the Depot Theatre - where you can take a journey without leaving the station!
See y'all soon!
- Y. Angel Wuellner, Managing Director of Depot Theatre
